From Office with Scorn: "A series of things that are pissing me off"

Before we begin I'd like to point out that the quote above is from that of the one and only George Carlin, I would also like to thank him and Ron Moore(the man responsible for The reimagined Television experience Battlestar Galactica) for essentially changing my life entirely over the course of about a year. Hello, how are you? It's been awhile. Glad you are tuning in. Today I have finally gave in to my own stubbornness and laxity and will be starting this secondary blog(nothing to do with the war room and its various endeavours) to vent my frustration and maybe even help identify and offer advice on how to deal with the crap I and many others certainly deal with every day, in all its forms. This frustration is one that I think you may share about one thing or another, maybe even the same bullshit I'll be detailing. To begin our journey through this minefield of attrocious nonsense that seems to be the majority of life nowadays, we shall partake in some complaining. I find this a great way to ven ...

An Open letter to the Old Republic: Part 2

Good Day, I am writing to share a small list of my gripes and general feedback about the game thus far. Major concerns: 1: I have recently realized the alarmingly high amount of areas where mounts are prohibited. Please do away with this, the whole thing is frakking pointless. The game will not collapse in on itself if players can get to their ships 30 seconds ahead of schedule. 2: For the 3rd time I can remember, I am once again complaining about the smuggler(and to a degree the agent) pants. They are abysmally tight and literally look like they have no substance to them at all. It is not what pants look like under any circumstance, and certainly not what any proper smuggler or gunslinger would be caught dead in. if you don't want to give us full on appearance armor like in Everquest with patch 1.2, either loosen up all smuggler leg armour, release some medium armor lower jedi robes(so we  AT LEAST can pull off the gunslinging nobleman look), or as stated, allow any type of armor to be e ...

The War Room: Film review- V for Vendetta

A recent homework assignemnent, thought I'd post. It's one of my better 40 minute aftermaths of keyboard bashing.... Some would call “V for Vendetta” overtly dramatic. They would be well to remember the fact that the symbol of drama is a mask. With the protagonist being a man in a mask, the outlandishness of this way of thinking is more than highlighted. That being said, for those who do not know: V for Vendetta was a graphic novel published circa 1983 by Vertigo Comics, written and illustrated by Alan Moore and David Lloyd respectively. The book follows Evey Hammond in the England of the not so distant future where, after a significantly devastating war only briefly mentioned, hatred, bigotry and fascism reigned supreme and now fester throughout England. Evey is out late one night prostituting when she meets V, a man in a Guy Fawkes mask and outfit who speaks in quotes and figurative language, a man of pure symbolism and culture. Without spoiling much, the story follows the escalation and ...

An open letter to bioware's feedback email

Thought I'd share my latest shakespeare rivaling masterpiece I just concocted when Bioware wanted my feedback. Enjoy. Hello Bioware, I am very pleased with TOR in a general sense. the questing/progression system is very solid and the storylines are great, especially the full voiceovers. People have their fair share of problems with this game's odds and ends, and I think some are justified, but overall it is NOT beyond repair in the least. I personally would like to see a rework of what was included in the collector's edition, such as total elimination of cooldowns on the fun little items like the flaregun- my entire gaming budget past july of last year was stockpiled and saved to be devoted to my collector's edition preorder, and to be honest it is one of the most disappointing ones of the 4 different CE's I currently own, Particularly because of the lack of the "Art Of" book's inclusion, though the journal was cool but didnt hold me over for long. I Digress, however, but would strongly sug ...

The War Room: Wrath of Heroes

Sup guys, it's been awhile, lets get underway. Last night I got my confirmation email for the second beta test of my thanksgiving vacation, Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes. It sounded pretty cool when I first heard about it but still thought it was basically League of Legends warhammer edition.   I was wrong. I watched a few gameplay videos like this great one by the guys over at MMOhut and confirmed that pretty quickly: For a closed beta phase 3, I have little to say about the game that is in any way negative. I'll break it down from here. Soundtrack: Yes I said soundtrack. Every other MOBA really just has some random ambiance to get drowned out by the ensuing carnage anyway. This, however, is not so in WoH. The soundtrack, like the game, is hardcore, heavy, and increasingly intensifying with the action of the game. They say you aren't supposed to notice a good soundtrack but as a fine admirer of many of them, this was a pleasant surprise.  Me ...

The War Room: Rise of Legends

Once again, the epic sounding title...maybe it's a natural affinity of mine. New Sig also ^^ Today we will be visiting the most recent and final installment(ACTUALLY a spinoff) of the Rise of nations  franchise, Rise of Legends. Released in 2006, Rise of Legends was one of the only RTS's and quite frankly one of the only GAMES to implement some hardcore steampunkism. It was actually well presented too and not just slapped in as if it was a fleeting attempt to break into that market, a bit smaller at the time than it now is(A subculture). Some nice presentations of the art style of the game are prominent in these covers:     The game plays much like your standard RTS- fans of such games as the older Rise of Nations style pseudo-civ gameplay as well more streamlined styles such as command and conquer and dawn of war can get in on the action this game provides, seamlessly integrating elements of a turn based strategy, Civ, and RTS into one gameplay mode for a truly u ...

The War Room: All hands, battle stations- The AFS are coming!

WADDUP LAIBACH!!!         l CHECK THIS SHIT OUT   \/ Know what this shit is? It's taken from the Official InfiniteRasa test server. That's right, Tabula rasa is ALMOST BACK! the test server is accessible after a fair bit of dicking around with SQL's and databases and the like, you can get on , create a character, and take a walk around memory lane/an empty starting zone. It was nice  , but likewise eerie... no NPC's.. god damn Im on too much. Anyway, you can equip items and open a footlocker but right now it is still pretty under- development. yeah, I did that. and showed up in that :P Anyway, PLEASE come check out the community at www.infiniterasa.com and pledge your support to the Rising Phoenix of MMO's. Lots of awesome people doing awesome work, and if you have any skills or resources to contribute- they can be utilized too. See you on the battlefields of Foreas and Arieki soon! for now, enjoy this last smouldering bane dropship. Lt. Comm ...

Revolution starts right here

BRINK.... where do I begin? Perhaps with my loss of hope for the shooter franchise post bad company 2? Nah- Ill just start with Tuesday, May 10th, when I picked up my preorder of this really innovative game. I booked home, not till about 930pm of course, and started installing this game RIGHT away. I fired it up and was already awed at the amount of things I could do with my character at level one. After choosing security or resistance for your initial selection(it is a shooter, not an MMO so you are NOT locked in to this choice- its really just the decider of what intro movie you view and see your character as first) you can commence character customization, both of your character and your weapons- enjoy some screenshots. An especial Thank you goes out to Lord Einheit for the Psycho Pack only available for preordering- one of the 4 exclusive things was the Soda can Suppressor, seen above on Angel, My CARB-9 Submachine gun. Security Intro: Resistance Intro: The g ...
